The Mediating Effect of Resilience in the Impact on the Mental Health of Upper Elementary School Students" Smart Phone Addiction Risk

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effect of resilience on the link between the risk of smart phone addiction and the mental health of elementary school students. Subjects consisted of 732 students in upper elementary grades in Daegu. Results of t-test, hierarchical regression analysis and sobel test are as follows: First, the statistical significance is shown between the both groups in the whole and each of the sub-factors of the mental health and the resilience. Second, it is found that the resilience acts as the mediating in the impact on the mental health of elementary school students¡¯ smart phone addiction risks. The implication of this study is high by providing the data supporting for the development of psychotherapy interventions and the encouragement to practice such interventions for improving the mental health of children who are faced with the danger of smart phone addiction.
